About Aurmina
Almost nobody outside Japan has heard of this mineral chemistry.
This aqueous mineral extraction was achieved in 1977 by a pharmacist named Asao Shimanishi, after dedicating nearly fifteen years in devising a method that would do what he had watched rainwater do to a granite boulder: dissolve a little of the stone, and feed a tree growing out of bare rock. The record he left behind — patents, field reports, forty years of results — went untranslated for two generations. Soon after we encountered early fragments of this record, we formed Aurmina, applying the same mineral chemistry to drinking water.
What changed
Nature always cleaned its own water. We just gave it too much to clean.
For nearly all of history, the earth purified its own water — stone, minerals, and time binding contaminants and carrying them out, and keeping the water biologically alive. Think of the pristine springs of antiquity: clear, cold, undisturbed waters that people traveled to and wrote about, sought out for their clarity, their beauty, and their refreshment. That was simply what water was. The system that made it still works — it was just never built for the modern load.
Today, hundreds of thousands of chemicals
are now in commerce — pesticides, solvents, pharmaceuticals, industrial byproducts — almost none of which existed a century ago, and nearly all of which end up in water.
Earth now holds 8 billion people
— from a tiny fraction of that number just two centuries ago, now concentrating waste aonto the same rivers, lakes, and aquifers nature once kept clean for far fewer of us.
In response, many people have adopted reverse osmosis or distillation to protect themselves from the modern burden. But this trades one problem for several others — namely, water that is biologically harmful, water that is wasted, and water that is expensive. Nature's chemistry works better — but it's slow.
Aurmina offers a geological shortcut.
Nature used to have the time to purify water over weeks, seasons, and sometimes years— but it never had to keep pace with the flood of novel compounds and human refuse the modern world now pours in faster than it can break them down. Aurmina concentrates the same mineral chemistry the earth uses to clean water, such that it performs that process in 24 to 48 hours.
Clean shouldn't mean empty
Most purifiers make water clean by making it dead.
Reverse osmosis strips everything out under pressure — the poisons and the minerals alike — and hands you empty, aggressive water. "Aggressive" is literal: water stripped toward zero is chemically hungry, and it pulls minerals back out of whatever it touches — leaching metal from your pipes on the way to the glass, then, as it moves through you, drawing minerals out of the very body it was meant to nourish. Every estrogen on the panel fell.
The compounds most often named in stories about hormones in drinking water — the natural estrogens the body makes, and the synthetic one in oral contraceptives. Eight tested, all reduced between 74 and 97 percent, measured in duplicate against a matched, identically spiked untreated control.

A different scale. The contaminant results above were measured in micrograms per liter, parts per billion. The hormone panel, run by SGS AXYS, was measured in nanograms per liter: parts per trillion, a thousand times finer. These are far more sensitive measurements, of far smaller amounts. They are also exact — every treated figure is a concentration the instrument actually read, not a result that stopped at the edge of what the method could see, which is why a measured 84 percent here means more than a 99.9 percent above it. Two samples per arm shows an effect this size but cannot carry statistics, and the same panel's androgens and progestins fell far less, between 13 and 68 percent.

The science
Removing contaminants is the first act. Restoring the water is the second.
Once the contaminants are bound and settled out, the minerals that removed them remain in solution — and they change what the water fundamentally is. Redox balance is restored: the electron potential that governs how water behaves inside biological chemistry returns to where naturally mineralized water has always sat. Hydration shells — the ordered molecular layers that form around dissolved ions and cellular membranes — become stronger and more organized, the structure of water that has come through stone rather than a membrane. And the capacity for ion exchange returns: the ability to carry minerals in and metabolic waste out, which is what water was always for. Reverse osmosis and distillation produce the opposite — water that is chemically inert, electron-hungry, and structurally flat. Clean by one measure, impoverished by every other.
Aurmina doesn't filter your water so much as condition it, running the same chemistry stone and water do underground — compressed into a teaspoon.
Coagulation & flocculation
The solution’s multivalent ions cancel the charges that keep contaminants suspended. Metals, organics, and fine particles bind together, clump into visible floc, and settle out — carrying the burden to the bottom.
Redox
Redox-active minerals shift the water’s electron balance, so dissolved organic matter oxidizes and breaks apart instead of lingering. The basis of redox-balanced water.
Ion exchange
As the contaminants leave, a broad, balanced trace of minerals is traded in and buffered across the water — what keeps the finished water mineral-alive instead of stripped.
Hydration
The result is water with the structure and mineral personality of a natural spring — smooth, faintly sweet, and alive, not the flat emptiness of stripped water.
Water takes its color from stone.
Water running through rock does not stay the same water. It picks up what the stone will give it and puts down what it can no longer hold — the exchange that turns a mountain river that colour. Aurmina runs the same exchange in a pitcher.
